If it comes with a removable machine washable fabric cover, unzip it for proper cleaning. It is advisable always to read the instruction to avoid damaging your fabric. The manufacturer’s instructions on the tag will always have a coding system for you to follow so that you can get the best out of your fabric sofa.

W- Means this material is water-friendly. It is safe to use water to clean this fabric.
S- It means it is not water-friendly to clean this material. In this case, you need to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions on the recommended cleaning agents.
WX- This material is water or solvent-friendly. Water or solvent-based cleaning agents can be applied to this fabric.
X- It means that you can only vacuum this fabric material. Water is not recommended to clean this fabric material.

Removing Stain from Fabric Sofa

If it is water or solvent washable, please use distilled water instead of direct tap water, leaving residue behind on your fabric. Most tap water contains minerals that may not be compatible with your fabric material.
Use distilled cleaning vinegar.

Warm water

After reading the instruction on the manufacturer tag that comes with your sofa, if it states “W or WS,” it is possible to use an upholstery steamer. It does not matter which method you apply to clean your sofa couch; always be gentle to avoid destroying your sofa material.

Use a vacuum cleaner with the correct attachments to remove crumbs and dirt from the surface. There are many types of vacuum cleaners but use the upholstery type for your specific fabric sofa. If stains remain on the fabric, you may have to try heavy-duty cleaning agents like Folex and Armor All Carpet & Upholstery Foam Cleaner from Woolworth.
If the stains or smell remain, repeat the process.
