Located on the Northside of Brisbane, approximately 43 km, is Caboolture’s Morton Bay Council suburb. This riverside suburb is the most northern suburb of the greater Brisbane area located in South East Queensland. The suburb name has been thought to have come from the bay, which the Caboolture River runs, originally derived from the Aboriginal word meaning place of the carpet snake. Caboolture was first surveyed back in 1869; however, the first buildings, a school, hotel, and store built in Caboolture did not occur until 1879. Between 1879 and 1881, fewer than 100 people were living in Caboolture. A decade later, Caboolture was seen as an essential rural centre with a
cooperative butter factory, branch railway line to Woodford, three sawmills, and a growing population of 250 residents. Today Caboolture has a population of over 26,400 residents, according to the 2016 census. Residents choose to live in Caboolture for its lower cost of housing, closeness to the sunshine coast, and access to parks, shopping, and beaches.

Like most large suburbs, Caboolture has a wide variety of housing. There are the new buildings such as the apartments located on Lower King St, the family homes where the kids can have room to play, or the older style homes ripe for renovation. In 2022 rental prices range from $250 a week for a two-bedroom one-bathroom unit up to $700 per week for a five-bedroom, two-bathroom home.

For the many families that call Caboolture home, the local parks offer a place for the kids to run and explore and the adults to exercise. Centenary Lakes Park, located near Joyner Court, provides a place to exercise and spot various wildlife, including lizards, birds, ducks, and butterflies. There is also a playground for younger children to play on in the adjoining Apex Park.

For residents wanting a relaxing stroll along the beach or enjoying a fishing weekend, the closest beach to Caboolture is Main Beach, only 11 minutes drive away. Bribie Island is also just over a half hour’s drive making it a perfect weekend beach getaway.

For Families wanting more beaches to explore or a vibrant beach getaway, the Sunshine Coast is less than 45 minutes away with its beautiful sandy beaches. The Sunshine Coast is also home to the world-famous Australia Zoo and Sealife. For families that like rides, Aussie World is only 30 minutes drive north.

Within Caboolture, residents have several shops to choose from, making shopping easy. The Central Lakes Shopping Centre located on Pettigrew St has a Woolworths, Golden Casket Newsagency, a Coffee Club, Noodle Box, Subway, and a variety of other stores and service centres. The closest Coles is located in Caboolture Square, a shopping centre found on King St. In addition to Coles, the shopping centre also has an Australia Post, Liquorland, Anytime Fitness, Bakery, Millers, plus much more.

Caboolture has both State Primary and High schools within the suburb and in surrounding suburbs. Caboolture State School takes students from prep to high school and is located on George St. It was first opened its doors in 1889 and has had several name changes throughout its history, firstly named Caboolture North State School then Caboolture State School in 1912. However, from 1940 to 1960, it changed to Caboolture Rural State School. Sometime after the 1960s, the name was changed to Caboolture State School. Caboolture High School is located on Lee St and takes students from year 7 to year 12. Caboolture East State School and Pumicestone State School are other schools in the vicinity, located a short 7 minutes from Caboolture.
